Spookee is a personal, non-commercial project: a place to browse horror films and series, keep track of what you have watched, and rate and review it. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to what follows. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Spookee is built and run independently. It is not a company, it does not sell anything, and it is not affiliated with any studio, streaming service, or any of the rating providers whose scores appear on the site. You can reach us at contact@spookee.com.
You need an account to rate, review, or keep a watchlist. Browsing does not require one.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you should have a parent or guardian read these terms with you.
You are responsible for keeping your login details to yourself and for anything done through your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.
Usernames are unique and can be changed once every seven days. We may reclaim a username that impersonates someone, is used to squat on a name, or is chosen to harass.
Your reviews, ratings, watch dates, watchlist, bio, and profile picture stay yours. You keep ownership of everything you write.
To show your content on the site at all, we need your permission to host and display it. By posting, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and distribute what you post, for the purpose of running Spookee and showing it to the people your privacy settings allow. That license ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies sitting in routine backups until they age out.
If your profile is public, your reviews and watchlist are visible to anyone, including people who are not logged in, and may be picked up by search engines. You can switch your profile to private in settings at any time.
Keep it about horror. Specifically, do not post anything that is:
We can remove anything that breaks these rules, and we do not owe you a warning first.
Film and series information, including posters, synopses, cast, and release dates, comes from The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Scores attributed to IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic are reported as those services state them, collected through a third-party aggregator. We do not control those scores, we cannot correct them, and their appearance here is attribution, not a partnership. Every trademark and logo belongs to its owner.
If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, write to contact@spookee.com with enough detail to identify the work and where it appears, and we will look into it.
Everything on Spookee that is not film data or user content, meaning the design, the code, the written articles, and the name, belongs to us. You are welcome to link to any page. You may not copy the site wholesale, scrape it at volume, or run automated tools against it that we have not agreed to.
Spookee is a side project maintained in someone's spare time. It may be slow, break, lose data, change without notice, or go away entirely. There is no uptime promise and no support commitment. Features described on the site today may not exist tomorrow.
You can delete your account at any time from settings. That removes your profile, reviews, ratings, watch dates, watchlist, and any picture you uploaded. Bug reports you have filed are kept, with your account no longer attached to them, which the privacy policy explains in full.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that puts the site or its other users at risk.
Spookee is provided as it is, with no warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise the site will be available, accurate, secure, or fit for anything in particular.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, lost profit, or lost time arising from your use of the site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Some countries, and some US states, do not allow parts of the two paragraphs above. Where that is the case, they simply do not apply to you.
These terms will change as the site does. When they change in a way that matters, we will say so on the Latest Updates page and move the date at the top of this one. Continuing to use Spookee after that means you accept the new version.
These terms are governed by the law of the operator's home jurisdiction, and any dispute belongs to the courts there. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protections of the law where you live.
Questions about any of this go to contact@spookee.com.
