Horror comedy movies

An American Werewolf in London is the standing proof that it can be done without either half giving way, and it is genuinely frightening in between the jokes. The Return of the Living Dead and Re-Animator both arrived in 1985 and did the same for the undead, by their own routes rather than by descent from it.
Shaun of the Dead opens on characters too hungover to notice an apocalypse and then spends the rest of its length on a rescue plan that keeps going wrong, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil runs an entire slasher on a misunderstanding, and What We Do in the Shadows does the vampire film as a flatshare documentary.
